JOB SUMMARY

KASS Logistics is a full-service 3rd Party Logistics provider specializing in less than truckload, full truckload and intermodal freight services. The Logistics Lead – Load Planner/Dispatcher is a frontline representative of KASS and must consistently demonstrate our commitment to providing the highest level of service and ensuring fair business practices. Must possess transportation and trucking logistics industry knowledge, and exhibit professionalism, tech skills and the ability to thrive alongside the demands of a fast-moving and evolving environment.

The primary focus of this position is to assist with our in-house operations and brokerage, which includes:

  • building and maintaining relationships with our clients and carriers;
  • utilizing technology via carrier portals and load boards, as well as relationships, to identify daily capacity; and
  • competitively price, secure and oversee loads from quote to delivery, alerting clients of all transit updates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Service on-demand, as well as scheduled or routed work accurately and timely
  • Assist customers via phone, email and fax with inquiries including but not limited to rate quotes, tracing shipments, tariff discrepancies and billing and/or invoicing questions
  • Utilize specialized TMS software
  • Execute customer requests for transportation services via the most efficient and cost-effective means
  • Offer accurate and timely quotes while also factoring in the Company’s financial margins and profit levels
  • Adhere to legal and client requirements such as cargo details, service options, rates, transit times and loading/offloading needs
  • Prescreen carrier eligibility utilizing dedicated software based on DOT standards and company policies
  • Pursue qualified carriers and costs for best routing and pricing
  • Continuously expand and improve the contract carrier network to meet productivity demands
  • Monitor and work to expedite the movement of specialized shipments
  • Dispatch loads and update board with any changes in load schedule
  • Resolve driver issues timely and effectively
  • Recognize and resolve documentation errors
  • Communicate and collaborate with clients, carriers and coworkers to resolve issues while providing superior service and exhibiting respect and integrity in all interactions

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Professional demeaner with a customer service attitude and aptitude to establish credibility

  • Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills with capability of juggling numerous responsibilities and quickly changing priorities

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years LTL or Full Truckload experience, transportation or logistics
  • Brokering and negotiation skills
  • OS&D experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Strong computer, typing and mathematical skills
  • Organized, detail oriented, accurate and analytical
  • Self-motivated with initiative to expand on abilities
  • Problem-solver, focused and efficient
  • Team player attitude whether working together, lending a hand to help or acting as back up during absences
  • Collaboration on special assignments as requested
  • Excellent written and verbal command of the English language
  • Respect of the work environment by keeping it neat and clean
  • Prompt daily attendance
  • Due to the nature of the industry, position may require work-related duties outside of regular business hours
